Conference for support of the regional economy of the cross border region Haskovo – Edirne
On 26th and 27th of April 2012, in the hall of “Bulgaria” Hotel, Mineralni bani, Haskovo region a Conference for support of the regional economy of the cross border region Haskovo – Edirne has been held, according Activity 7 Project title: Regional Bulgarian – Turkish Business Council “Trakya” – measure for increasing the economic competitiveness of the cross-border region Haskovo – Edirne, Application ref.: 2007CB16IPO008-2009-1-034, Subsidy contract Outgoing No: RD 02-29-135/29.06.2011 under BULGARIA - TURKEY IPA CROSS-BORDER PROGRAMME. The project is being implemented by Haskovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry in partnership with Edirne Chamber of Commerce and Industry and will end on 29.06.2012.
Attending at the conference from the Republic of Turkey were Cemil Guler - President of Edirne Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Cemal Yazici - Deputy President of Kesan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and 5 more representatives – members of both Chambers. From Bulgarian side the attendants were Yancho Yanev – President of Haskovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, representatives from the Municipality of Mineralni Bani, entrepreneurs and journalists. The 50 participants were presented topics about corporate behavior, corporate social responsibility and business ethics and other by the lecturers. During the conference, a discussion took place and the future directions for the development of the region's economy have been outlined and measures to protect the interests of local business have been identified . To build a sustainable regional economy and maintain its sustainable development important efforts would be targeted towards:
• Development of small and medium business with increasing competitiveness;
• Attract investors and promotion of the region;
• Active participation of local partners in implementation of supporting measures of socio-economic development of the region;
• Resolving issues related to environmental liability of companies.
