Yancho Yanev, Chair of the Board of the Haskovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Took Part in a Bulgarian–Greek B2B Forum in Sofia
On 16 February 2026, a bilateral B2B forum was held at the Balkan Palace Hotel in Sofia on the occasion of the visit of a delegation led by the Deputy Minister of the Interior, sector of Macedonia and Thrace of the Hellenic Republic, Mr. Konstantinos Gioulekas. The event was organized by the Bulgarian–Greek Chamber of Commerce and Industry under the auspices of the Embassy of Greece in Sofia.
Yancho Yanev, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Haskovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry, participated in the forum and held a series of working meetings with representatives of business organizations from Thessaloniki, as well as companies and institutions from both countries.
In his address during the forum, Mr. Yanev emphasized the importance of cross-border cooperation as a strategic instrument for the economic development of the regions on both sides of the border. He highlighted the need to outline specific future directions for cooperation between businesses, municipalities, and local authorities, aimed at joint projects, investments, and more effective use of European programs.
Special attention was given to infrastructure connectivity between Bulgaria and Greece. Mr. Yanev raised the issue of restrictions on freight traffic through the Ivaylovgrad border checkpoint, which create real difficulties for businesses in the region. He noted that the limitations on truck crossings hinder Bulgarian companies from working with the nearest concrete plant in Northern Greece, located approximately 20 km from the border, which in many cases is more economically advantageous and logistically efficient compared to deliveries from more distant sites within Bulgaria.
According to the Chair of the Board of the Haskovo Chamber, resolving such practical issues is key to the genuine development of cross-border business and to enhancing the competitiveness of enterprises in the region.
As part of the program, H.E. the Ambassador of Greece to Bulgaria, Mr. Alexios Marios Liberopoulos, hosted an official dinner at the Embassy building, bringing together participants to deepen bilateral dialogue and strengthen partnership relations.
The participation of the Haskovo Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the event marks another step toward intensifying economic contacts between Bulgaria and Greece and creating a more favorable environment for business development in the cross-border region.
